Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 27 October 2026

This policy explains how CoinGeography (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use coingeography.com and related services (the “Service”). We collect as little as we need to run the Service, and we do not sell personal data.

1. Data we collect

  • Account data — email address, display name and login records when you create an account.
  • Your content — watchlists, portfolio transactions and price alerts you create. These are private to your account.
  • Submissions — contact name, email and the project or event details you send through our submission forms.
  • Messages — what you send us by email, including corrections and complaints.
  • Newsletter — your email address, when you subscribed and the consent wording you agreed to. We use it only to send the newsletter; every issue has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all newsletter emails.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type and request logs kept by our servers for security, abuse prevention and rate limiting.
  • Data on your device — when signed out, your watchlist, portfolio and checklist progress are stored only in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us.

We do not ask for and never want your wallet seed phrase, private keys or exchange passwords.

2. How we use it

  • To provide the Service: sign-in, saving your watchlist, portfolio and alerts.
  • To review and publish submissions, and to contact you about them.
  • To keep the Service secure: detecting abuse, spam and fraud, and enforcing rate limits.
  • To answer your messages and handle corrections.
  • To meet legal obligations.

Our legal bases, where the law requires one, are performance of a contract (your account), legitimate interests (security, editorial review, improving the Service) and consent where we ask for it.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use only cookies that are necessary to run the Service, such as the session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our ads are served directly by us without third-party ad networks. See the cookie policy.

4. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of it:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our servers.
  • Our database and authentication provider (Supabase), which stores account data and submissions.
  • Email delivery providers, when we send account or submission emails.

Market prices are fetched by our servers from third-party data providers; your personal data is not sent to them. We may disclose data when the law requires it or to protect users from fraud or harm. Advertisers never receive your personal data.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process data in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep data

  • Account data and your content: until you delete your account, then removed within 30 days except where we must keep records by law.
  • Submissions: up to 24 months after review, so we can handle follow-ups and disputes.
  • Server logs: up to 90 days, unless needed to investigate abuse.

7. Security

Access to personal data is restricted by role. Portfolio, alert and watchlist data is protected by row-level security in our database, so only you can read it. Connections are encrypted with HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise them, contact us at our contact page. We will respond within the time the law requires.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site or sent to account holders by email.
