Our standards

CoinGeography aims to be accurate, independent and transparent. We separate facts from opinion, link to primary sources (official project pages, exchange announcements, regulators and filings) and say clearly when something is unconfirmed.

Sourcing

Every listing and article cites its source. Market data shows its provider and last-updated time. When a live provider is unavailable, sample data is clearly labelled as demo data.

Verification statuses

  • Verified — details confirmed against official project or exchange channels by our editors.
  • Verification pending — under review; details may change.
  • Unverified — published for awareness only; treat with caution.

We do not state that a project is audited unless we have confirmed the audit with the auditor.

Sponsored content

Sponsored placements, featured listings and sponsored articles are always labelled “Sponsored”. Payment does not affect verification status or editorial coverage.

How we use automation

Software monitors permitted RSS feeds from news outlets, official project blogs, exchanges and regulators, groups reports of the same story from different outlets and prepares a list of sources for our editors. It may also flag figures that differ between reports; those notes are marked as unverified until an editor checks them. It never publishes third-party headlines or text as CoinGeography content. We store only headlines, links, timestamps and — where a publisher permits it — short excerpts of third-party reporting, and we link to the original.

AI-assisted drafts

An editor may ask an AI model to write a first draft from the sources gathered for a story. The model is told to use only those sources, write in its own words and attribute every fact. The editor then checks each fact against the sources, rewrites and adds reporting as needed, and the article passes the same checks as any other — including automatic checks for copied headlines and copied wording — before a managing editor approves it. Articles that started from an AI draft say so in the byline. Nothing written by AI is published without human review.

The only thing software publishes on its own is an article a managing editor has already approved and scheduled, at the time they chose.

Article types

  • Original reporting — written by CoinGeography staff, crediting the real author or our editorial team.
  • News summary — a short summary of another outlet’s report, clearly attributed and linked.
  • Sponsored — paid content, always labelled.

Listings and events

  • Airdrops and reward claims are listed only with a link to the project’s own page. We leave out campaigns with suspended sites, conflicting terms or promises of returns.
  • Event dates, venues and ticket prices come from organiser pages; each event shows when the data was compiled and whether it has been checked.
  • Community events are imported from organisers’ public Luma calendars (their iCal feeds) and link to the Luma page for registration.
  • Bug bounty programs come from Immunefi’s public program data and link to the official program page.
  • Events, airdrops and bounties hosted on CoinGeography are reviewed before they go live; paid placements are labelled “Sponsored”.
  • Submissions from projects and organisers are checked against official channels before publication.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Advertisers and sponsors cannot buy or influence editorial coverage. Staff must disclose crypto holdings relevant to anything they write about and may not trade on unpublished information.

Corrections

If you spot an error, contact us and we will review it promptly. Corrections are added to the article with the date of the change, and the article’s “updated” time reflects substantive edits.
