Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has internally announced several AI features that will soon be available to users, various sources reported on June 8.

Meta Unveils New Consumer AI Tools

axios said: June 8 CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other executives announced the feature at an all-staff meeting, he said. One of his tools in development will allow users to enter and change Instagram photos using her AI text prompts. Another tool features an “AI agent” or chatbot that supports entertainment on Messenger and his WhatsApp.

individual report from The Verge Apart from the image editing function, we are proposing to allow users to generate stickers through AI text prompts.

yet another report from tech crunch Facebook added that it is developing internal tools such as a staff productivity assistant (called “Metamate” by other sources) and an experimental interface for interacting with AI agents.

Both Axios and TechCrunch have announced that they will host an internal hackathon in July focused on generative AI (or AI that can generate digital content).

Axios reports that Mark Zuckerberg also said the company will contribute AI research and technology to the open source community.

The announcement represents a shift in the meta

To date, Meta has primarily focused on in-house AI development. On an investor conference call in April, the company explained how AI will drive content discovery and monetization. Later, in May 2023, the company announced new details about its in-house AI chip development.

But the same month that it unveiled a generative AI tool aimed at advertisers, it began rolling out non-in-house AI applications.

Meta’s AI efforts have also faced pushback from regulators. Senators on June 6 expressed concern about the company’s LLaMA language model, saying the company failed to prevent the system from responding to illegal or dangerous requests.

Meta’s cryptocurrency efforts have largely been abandoned since its new focus on AI. The company will discontinue both the Diem and Novi wallet cryptocurrencies in 2022, and also announced the end of its pursuit of NFTs in March 2023.
