A recent DappRadar report found that gaming-related daily unique active wallets (dUAW) fell 12.33% in February, while on-chain games accounted for 45.43% of the decentralized application (dApp) industry.

According to DappRadar, 752,735 dUAW were recorded on-chain as of the end of February. reportDespite the overall decline, two games, Oak of Peak and Trickshot Blitz, increased their on-chain user numbers. Game developer Unity has also taken a bullish stance on the industry, entering the space by offering 13 blockchain-based software development kits (SDKs).

The report notes that the 12.33% decline recorded last month shows consistency with the previous year, as “February tends to be a slow month for the industry.”

Gaming still accounts for nearly half of industry activity, but with the number of dUAWs declining, gaming has lost its dominance.

The 45% in February marks a decline from gaming’s dominance over the industry, which was 48% in January. The current possession rate undoes his January record growth, bringing the possession rate back to what it was in December 2022.

Regardless, gaming continues to completely dominate DeFi. Compared to gaming, DeFi recorded a rise in dominance, reaching 24% from 21% in January. However, this is still almost half of his 45% of the game.

An overall decrease in the number of dUAW reflected in all major gaming blockchains except WAX (WAXP). In February, Wax increased the number of dUAWs to 342,764. This is an increase of 3.26%.

All other major chains posted declines in February, with HIVE (HIVE) posting the biggest drop at 36%. Polygon (MATIC), BNB Chain (BNB) and EOS (EOS) also shrank by 35%, 12% and 3.44% respectively.

Game Oath of Peak bucked the tide, increasing its monthly UAW (mUAW) by 136% to 88,090, making it the best-performing game of February. Trickshot Blitz is another game where he recorded growth in February, where he increased mUAW to 84,160, a 49% increase from the previous month. Finally, Farmers World was able to resist an overall decline in February by recording his 4% growth in mUAW.

Bullish on SDK

The report also mentions an emerging trend within blockchain gaming: SDKs.Quoting Alchemy Q4 dataAccording to a report, Ethereum (ETH) SDK will grow by 87% in 2022. Additionally, there was a 16% increase in installs in Q4 compared to Q3 of the same year.

Noting the new trend, game development platform Unity has also entered the field by offering 13 blockchain game SDKs. Unity has launched a “decentralized” category on its online store to list these SDKs. This includes leading protocols such as Immutable X (IMX), Solana (SOL) and MetaMask.
